If you need a commercial electrician in Wrexham or Chester, this is the workplace work we actually do: design and installation of new electrical systems, maintenance of existing installations, inspection and testing, emergency lighting, 3-phase work, network cabling and LED lighting.

Stewart Rawson Electrical is an NICEIC approved contractor, founded in 2010. We work from Jubilee Manor, Sun Lane, on the Wrexham Industrial Estate. New installation work is designed and certified to the current 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), not the withdrawn 17th Edition.

This page is for shops, offices, restaurants, factories and other workplaces. Houses and flats are a different page. Gresford, Ruabon, Holt and Penycae are towns we already drive to; they are not separate websites. We do not publish prices, reviews or photos here. If you want a quote, use the numbers at the end of the page.

Commercial electrical work we do

Typical commercial calls for this firm are the ones below. If a job is not on this list, ask — do not assume this page is a catalogue of every trade in the group.

  • Design and installation of new electrical systems
  • Maintenance and repairs of existing installations
  • Planned inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR)
  • PAT testing
  • Emergency lighting
  • 3-phase work
  • Network cabling and Wi-Fi
  • Extra sockets
  • LED lighting
  • Fire alarms
  • Nurse call systems

Design, installation and maintenance

New commercial work starts with the installation in front of us: what is already there, what load you are adding, and what has to stay in service while we work. We design and install new systems, and we modify existing ones, rather than treating every site as a blank sheet.

Maintenance is a different job from a one-off install. A lack of it is what usually costs money — faults that could have been found on a planned visit, or a system that fails in the middle of a working day. We put together a plan of inspections and preventative maintenance for the site, and schedule return visits so the installation is checked rather than left until something trips.

The point of that plan is to keep the installation in line with current regulations and to reduce the chance of a failure or a drop in the system. We will not invent a typical saving, a typical number of visits, or a typical contract price on this page. That comes from the building and the work you actually need.

Inspection and testing

A lot of commercial work starts with knowing the condition of the fixed wiring. The formal record of a periodic inspection is an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR). Duty holders have to maintain electrical systems so as to prevent danger under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989; an EICR is the usual written evidence that the installation has been inspected and tested. There is no single statutory “every five years” date for every shop and office — how often it should happen is a risk decision for the site. The report, the codes and who needs one are on the EICR page: Electrical Installation Condition Reports.

An EICR is not PAT testing and not emergency lighting testing. Those are separate records.

  • EICR / fixed-wire testing — the consumer unit or distribution board, circuits, sockets, switches, lighting, earthing and bonding.
  • PAT testing — portable appliances, with labelling and a record of what was tested. We published a note on PAT, installation and maintenance at The Coach House, and a note on electrical testing at Lisbon Portuguese Restaurant in Wrexham. Those posts are the source; this page does not add claims to them.
  • Emergency lighting — the fittings and the testing that goes with them, so escape routes still have light if the supply fails.

If a report is unsatisfactory, any remedial work is a separate quote. We do not publish prices here because every installation is different.

Power, lighting and cabling

Most of the remaining work on this page is adding to, or changing, the installation you already have.

3-phase work and extra sockets

3-phase work is on this list because some commercial and industrial-estate installations need it — a 3-phase board, a 3-phase supply to plant, or isolation so that work can be done safely. Extra sockets still have to be designed so the existing board, earthing and cable routes can take them. If the board cannot take another circuit safely, the honest answer is a board change or a redistribution of load, not another adaptor.

We published a short note on upgrades at Burton Manor Limited, including a 3-phase isolation enclosure, relocated switches and refreshed room supplies. That post is the source; this page does not add claims to it.

LED lighting

LED lighting on this page means the electrical work: replacing existing fittings, installing new LED lighting, and the circuits that serve it. We are not a lighting-design studio on this URL. If you already know what you want fitted, that is enough to quote.

Network cabling and Wi-Fi

Structured network cabling, data points and related Wi-Fi work sit with the same electricians as the power circuits, not as a separate IT company. Containment, a communications cabinet and data points are part of that job when the site needs them. We published a note on socket circuits, a communications cabinet and data points at Networld Sports in Wrexham. That post is the source; this page does not add claims to it.

Fire alarms and nurse call

Fire alarms and nurse call systems are on this page because they are already offered on this URL. They are electrical installations, not a security product. We will not invent a typical specification, a typical number of devices, or a care-home specialism we have not published. If you need either, ask and we will quote the site in front of us.

Work we have already published

The notes below already exist on this site. They are not case studies written for this page, and they are not a claim that every commercial job looks like them.

CCTV, alarms and charge points

If you also need CCTV or an intruder alarm, that work sits with SR Security, not on this page. If you need a vehicle charge point, that is SR Charge Points.

Wrexham, Chester and nearby towns

We are based at Jubilee Manor, Sun Lane, Wrexham Industrial Estate, Wrexham, LL13 9RW. The commercial work on this page is the work we do in Wrexham and Chester, and in the surrounding towns we already cover — Gresford, Ruabon, Holt and Penycae among them.

Houses and flats are a different page: domestic electrician.
